Statement

“This triptych of studies represents the isolated elements of a composition that I later meticulously scanned and arranged into a whole, and which opens the first chapter of my graphic novel, Abadon. The plot of Abadon, which can be described as a ‘story about hatred in eight chapters,’ follows two criminal inspectors in the hunt for a serial killer – the self-proclaimed Abadon, or the angel of the Abyss. These studies allow the qualities of traditional media to come to the fore, with their unique modes of tactility, texture, and form. Through the use of digital media, however, these traditional painted studies are given a new context, in the form of graphic novel pages.” – Mihael Badun
