Statement

“The title refers to the origin story of the Achilles heel. In ancient Greek mythology, the river Styx was supposed to offer powers of invulnerability. Achilles’ mother, Thetis, feared for her mortal son’s life and, in order to protect him, lowered him as an infant into the river Styx.

The only part of his body which remained untouched by the water was his heel, which in time became his downfall.

The image to me represents a mother’s desperate will to protect her child.”
